"We stayed as a couple at the guest ranch for a couple of nights and had a great stay. Nice and peaceful, beautiful scenery and about 25 minute drive from Clearwater town. Staff were friendly and the food onsite was incredible - huge portions and great quality. Felt the food was good value for money. The lodge itself was very traditional and minimalistic, very comfortable and heaters/blankets provided for the cooler nights. Beds comfortable and lodge was very clean and tidy. Only downside to the lodge is that we made the mistake of leaving our snacks out on the side one night, so were woken by a couple of mice trying our trail mix! Only improvement would be to potentially provide a cupboard to store food safely to prevent this. We went out for a three hour trail ride and had a great time. Beautiful trail through the forest, horses were lovely and it was so nice to be off grid and enjoy the scenery around us. Would highly recommend, we really enjoyed our stay and was such a treat to wake up to see horses and wildlife outside our lodge. "

"We stayed at the Across the Creek Cabins nearby and had both breakfast and dinner at the Black Horse Saloon. The rustic ambiance fits the area perfectly. The staff was friendly, the portions were large, and everything was made with good ingredients. They offer a beautiful selection of dishes at an excellent price-performance ratio. Highly recommended after a day of exploring!"

"Frau Monika Feuz war begeistert vom Ausritt, gerade der 5-stündige Einzelritt den sie geniessen konnte. Ich konnte die Ruhe nach den langen Autofahrten bei Ihnen geniessen. Alles in allem ein unvergesslicher Aufenthalt. Dass wir in unserm weitern Programm in Hinton auf der Strasse 40 noch 3 Grizzlybären beim futtern ca. 15 Meter von der Strasse weg filmen konnten ein weiteres Hoch. 5 Wochen Canada ein Genuss. "**Review of Wells Gray Ranch (August 28-31, 2026)** Our stay at Wells Gray Ranch was truly delightful! The ranch is filled with a variety of animals, including pigs, donkeys, goats, sheep, rabbits, dogs, alpacas, cats, and chickens, many of which roam freely around the spacious property. The kids absolutely loved feeding and petting the animals, which added a wonderful touch to our experience. Breakfast was fantastic, with fresh ingredients and generous portions that left everyone satisfied. The new owners, who took over in October 2025, are incredibly friendly and dedicated to ensuring guests have a pleasant stay. We opted for the simple accommodation without water and electricity, which suited us well. The outdoor space was great, featuring a large table and a covered porch where we could relax and enjoy the surroundings. Our horseback ride was a highlight of the trip. It was clear that the horses are well cared for and treated kindly, making the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Wells Gray Ranch and would highly recommend it for families looking for a unique and engaging getaway!"

"The place is fantastic ! It is very nice above all if you have children or like ranch! My children could be with the goats And other animals of the ranch. They really Enjoy it! We could also play to gether in family some area dedicate with special plays that we can used outside! Morever the vew is very beautiful. We recommand it !!!!"

"We hadden als onervaren horse back riders met ons gezin van 4 een trail ride van 2 uur geboekt. Alles was tot in de puntjes geregeld. Uitleg over het besturen van deze paarden was duidelijk en bleek inderdaad ook heel eenvoudig en zonder enige stress te verlopen. Ook de gids was heel rustig en zorgzaam. 2 uur op een zadel zitten door met momenten rotsachtige bospaden bleek ruimschoots voldoende voor deze eerste ervaring op een paard in de wildernis. Nadien genoten van een lekkere maaltijd in de ranch. Zeer vriendelijke eigenaars. Ook nadat we een klein ongelukje hebben gehad met onze huurwagen op de parking (tegen een boom gereden), waren de eigenaars heel behulpzaam omdat er geen cellulair coverage was op de ranch (was een 30min rijden van Clearwater) dat al een goed stuk in Wells Gray Provincial Park ligt. Als ik er nu naar terugkijk klopte ook heel het concept en was het er erg gemoedelijk en rustig."

"Where to start, first off the staff was fabulous they greeted us as soon as we walked in, seated us promptly and took our order without missing a beat, the restaurant was very homey, welcoming and super clean, we had the mushroom soup to start (my favorite ) it was super delicious to follow with fish and chips(hand cut fries) also fabulous, the dessert was a mousse with whip cream and a fresh raspberry also delicious, even a guest appearance by the owner super friendly, would definitely eat here again for sure...."

"We enjoyed our stay . Staff were excellent and meals and scenery were great . We would suggest cotton sheets on the beds , not flannel . Also, possibly some soda or sparkling water available in the bar . Wifi was hit and miss, we were fine without it as local but it is an expected amenity these days . "

"Stayed at one of the rustic cabins. Not our first visit - a great visit last time brought us back again. This is the perfect home base to explore Wells Gray without needing to fold your tent. You've got a roof over your head if the weather gets gross. Be aware that some of the areas of the ranch are low with standing water so you will get insects buzzing around and it will get humid - which can equal chilly at night. Just be prepared for that. Shower and wash facilities. No charge. We had no issue accessing - no lineups. Before your visit, you may want to practice showing in the dark - the lights in the shower house/washroom are on a motion sensor and you may get 30 seconds to conduct business before the lights go out. They have some farm animals and a bit of a low key ranching operation that folks can enjoy. The livestock is generally accustomed to unfamiliar people moving around but it's still a farm operation so you're going to see animals doing animal things. If you are not comfortable being around animals, ask one of the staff for assistance on how to interact - they will help you. The animals here are healthy and well looked after. Staff is 10/10 friendly. Willing to answer questions. They're present. They are ranch employees first, so their first duty is to the animals - just be aware that they're not tour guides or entertainment directors unless they are specifically guiding a tour. Don't hesitate. Book in. Bring some warm sleep clothes. Family run outfit - great people. Strong recommend from out family."
